Hester
Hester is a 4 year old Rottweiler who wound up at animal control because her owner's landlord said she had to go. In 20+ years of rescue she is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She loves people and is happy to be by your side as much as you will allow. She is in a foster home with 3 large dogs and gets along great with all of them. She is submissive and moderately playful.
When Hester came to us she weighed 125 lbs. and was obese. She struggled to walk and could only go on very short walks. As of Oct. 9 she is down to 114 lbs., but would be healthiest at about 100 lbs. We are feeding her a lower calorie food and alternate between Natural Balance Fat Dogs and Farmina Weight Management and she is doing well on these foods. She also gets some canned food mixed in.
Hester has a little bit of separation anxiety. Sometimes when no people are home she moves things around in her room like her bed and her bowl stand. She can be crated, but she will also stay behind a baby gate. She wouldn't do well in a home where she is left alone all day while her people are at work.
Hester initially tested positive for heartworms but she has finished heartworm treatment. She has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
Hester's adoption fee is $300. Her adopter must live within an hour's drive of Atlanta, give or take a little. If you are interested in adopting Hester, please email us.
